
In my last post, I described the experience of standing on the virtual threshold of my pilgrimage as a mix of trepidation and excitement.
I can hardly imagine what it would be like to stand on the real threshold of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, and see the following sign:

I’m guessing that for me it would be a Gulp moment.
But, of course, like almost everything else about a pilgrimage, it is a paradox.
The paradox is that yes, it is a commitment to walk 480+ miles, but it is also a commitment to walk only one step at a time. I guess that is similar to our commitment to life, as well.
